The road then becomes Blocka Road at W3W obstruction.hexes.badly. Turn right down Herringfleet Road into St Olaves, and on reaching the A143 at W3W node.matrons.universal turn left, remaining on the pedestrian footpath as you cross both bridges. Use of a head or chest torch is MANDATORY at this point as parts of the pedestrian footpath are not well lit. |
10e. |
At the junction of Herringfleet Road and the A143, if there is no traffic coming from the right then the escort vehicle can remain with the runner. However if the escort vehicle has to wait at the junction before turning the runner may proceed alone ⚠ BUT MAY ONLY RUN ALONE WHILE ON THE PEDESTRIAN FOOTPATH USING AN ILLUMINATED CHEST OR HEAD TORCH. THIS IS A SAFETY CRITICAL RULE. This rule also applies if the escort vehicle has to stop at a red light on either of the bridges. |

The changeover is situated approximately 25 metres from the main road at W3W warthog.acute.northward on the far side of the wooden bollards in a pedestrianised area and will be illuminated. See photo below. |
10j. |
Escort vehicles CANNOT follow the runner through the changeover, and should instead slow down while moving along the adjacent A143 between points W3W sentences.president.thigh and W3W regress.samples.stuns, taking care not to block the highway. ⚠ Beware the traffic island in the middle of the main road at W3W bump.improvise.clipboard. |
10k. |
Timekeepers travelling in the main escort vehicle should aim to record the changeover time as the vehicle passes the changeover on the A143, before the wooden fence opposite Alma Bridge (see photo above). The escort vehicle should then pick up the outgoing Stage 11 runner on the far side of the wooden fence. If the timekeeper is in a separate vehicle they may go to the changeover in advance, parking at Bungay Black Dog Running Club HQ (W3W dinosaur.showrooms.ample), and proceed from the back exit of the club to the changeover on Alma Bridge along the footpath indicated. |
